SODI SCIENTIFICA
SODI SCIENTIFICA - Sodi Scientifica was incorporated in Florence, Italy. In 1964, in fact, Fiorello and Carla Sodi set up “Sodi Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche” as an Engineering firm. Subsequently, the company designed and produced electro-diagnostic equipment, products for environmental protection and electronic devices for the detection of road traffic. Thus it gave rise to the Environment Division – with water treatment products – and the Traffic Division with the Autovelox, a speed enforcement device, and other traffic detection equipment.
Sodi Scientifica: High quality for a cleaner world The overwhelming increase in the world population and the trend which we can expect in the near future make it necessary for us to use every environmental resource rationally, starting with water, an essential element for mankind. Thus, it is mandatory to put the best techniques into effect in order to eliminate pollutants from water. For over thirty years, Sodi Scientifica’s Environment Division has been making high quality products which contribute to create a cleaner world.

Polyelectrolyte Dissolving System
Automix series Polyelectrolyte Dissolution Systems
Sturdiness, reliability and precision
The commercial offer is extremely modular and ranges from simple solutions with basic functions up to fully automatic apparatuses controllable via PLC. Based on the type of system and intended use, the tanks are available in stainless steel and polyethylene with nominal capacities ranging from 1 to 5 m3/h.
In the most complete configurations, initial calibration makes it possible to optimise metering according to the physical features of the used powdered polymer, assuring high metering precision (savings up to 30%), as well as perfect mixing and curing.
Automix Max 40/C
Polyelectrolyte dissolution systems
Sodi Scientifica has been operating for many years on the market with its line of automatic powder dissolution systems having high level of quality and performance indexes. AUTOMIX systems, besides having a highly professional operation, fully controlled by microprocessors, allow for considerable savings in economic terms, as regards the consumption of polymer and for the operational costs and maintenance.
MAIN COMPONENTS
AUTOMIX is a packaged plant consisting of two main sections:
- Polymer metering unit
- Dissolving, aging and dosing tank
The first section is made up of a stainless steel hopper which contains the powdered polyelectrolyte and is provided with antibridge vibrator, powder’s minimum level probe, timer-operated constant-flowrate screwfeeder, pressure switch – solenoid valve – water intake flowmeter, instantaneous powder-scattering water jet-disperser and a computerized control box housing all the electric and electronic devices for a fully automated operation of the system.
The second part, instead, consists of a stainless steel tank with a nominal capacity of 1000 – 2000 -3500 or 5000 liters of solution, divided into two or three sectors by bulkheads. Each sector is equipped with low-speed stirrer, level probes and lumps-retaining end filter.
Automatic Operation
In this version, the operation is fully automated thanks to the electronic control unit. In particular, Automix can be suitably run according to the physical-chemical characteristics of the polyelectrolyte used and to environmental factors as well.
A preliminary test on the powder, prior to dosing, allows to calibrate the system according to the particle size and bulk density of the type of polymer used, resulting in accuracy of dosage. The intake water flowrate measurement makes it possible to automatically adjust the screwfeeder’s timing and consequently its flowrate so as to keep the water/polymer ratio absolutely constant. The level probes, installed in the last sector of the tank, operate in an automatic way, with a start-stop system, the solenoid valve and the screwfeeder, reactivating both functions to the achievement of the minimum level.
The control box is provided with a keyboard operator interface pad where are also allocated functioning light indicators for all the components of the plant. The same signals can be relayed, either by individual or cumulative contacts, from the terminal board to a remote site for acoustic or visual alarms. Moreover, there is also the provision for the connection of two dosing units including the necessary electrical wiring from the control box. Finally the stainless steel end-filter, represents an additional safety feature to prevent non-perfectly dissolved flocs which might endanger the process efficiency.
The control box is also predisposed with a connection to an autoloader to feed the hopper with powder when it reaches its minimum level.

Automatic Operation
In this version Automix provides a synthesis of accuracy of metering, ease of use and automation. The ease of use is one of the distinctive features of this system, without sacrificing the main features, typical of more sophisticated equipment. Sturdiness and reliability complete the profile of this plant. Accuracy in metering is achieved by keeping the intake flow rate steady so that, by knowing the screwfeeder capacity, a constant water/powder ratio can be obtained as well.
The concentration of the solution is set using the knob in front of the electrical panel. Contrary to Automix Max 40/c, this version requires a separate control panel for the dosing units and is not provided with an end-filter.

Automix E
Polyelectrolyte Dilution System
Sodi Scientifica has been operating for many years on the market with its line of automatic powder dissolution systems. It has now extended its own line of products with the brand-new polyelectrolyte dilution system AUTOMIX E for emulsion polymers.
The Automix E polyelectrolyte dilution system is a device that prepares polyelectrolyte solutions starting from dilution water and concentrated emulsion.
To reduce its size, all parts of the system have been arranged in a single panel, on both the front and the rear sides.
Data sheet
Computerised control operated by PLC.
Can be used either with its maturation tank or by directly sending it to the grid.
Optional stainless steel frame, ready for free standing installation or wall mounting.
Small overall size.
The concentration of the final solution is highly accurate and repeatable.
Ease of use and of maintenance.
Wide range of accessories available.
Front side
On the front panel are the dilution water inlet, with its relative flow meter, and the inlet for concentrated emulsion, in addition to the metering pumps, the user interface management display, pressure gauges and a series of control accessories.
Rear side
On the rear side are the dilution water intake regulation devices, the main electric switch, the static mixer and the outlet for the final solution, ready to be sent to the grid or to be stored in its own maturation tank with low-speed stirrer and level probes.
Characteristics and Performance
Diaphragm volumetric metering pumps dose the concentrated emulsion (the pumps have a useful capacity that can be manually adjusted using the 10-100% scale), while the flow of dilution water is managed by a fixed-capacity self-regulating device.
Depending on the number of metering pumps installed, AUTOMIX E is available in three main models, Automix E 20, 40 e 60 that differ from each other in terms of maximum capacity of incoming concentrated emulsion. Thanks to the countless combinations of capacities for the incoming elements, AUTOMIX E ensures a high level of rated production capacity, ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 l/h, easily identified in the graph below.
For rated production capacities lower than 1,000 l/h or for variable capacity ranging from 100 l/h and 6,000 l/h, it is mandatory to use a storage and maturation tank for the final solution (otherwise optional).
Features and accessories on demand
To allow for maximum configuration and personalisation of the system according to the specific needs of the final client, Automix E has been designed with built-in hardware and software capable of fully exploiting the potential of the device even in its most basic version.
A number of accessories and relative software functions are available on demand, to obtain additional controls that can fulfil even the most demanding needs in terms of metering accuracy and automated process control.
